- Description
- We are looking for a Head of Project Management to join a rapidly expanding City-based trading house. As the Head of Project Management, you will be responsible for leading the PMO on a variety of IT infrastructure projects ranging from Service Desk through to Business Security to Infrastructure. Reporting to the CIO, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and distributing standardized processes, procedures, templates and tools to be leveraged across the organization and developing the project governance framework, and embedding best practice for project management within the PMO.
You and your team will bridge business strategy and project delivery to provide a best-in-class service, challenging to provide the best possible outcomes.
Duties will include:
- Management and development of a multi-discplinary projects team including Project Managers, Business Analysts and PMO analysts
- Develop tools for budget management and tracking, resource management / consumption and planning
- Develop management techniques to ensure projects are aligned with strategic objectives and goals and has the ability to drive best outcomes
- Select relevant delivery management toolkits that best serve the portfolio of projects the PMO delivers
- Build reporting sets for prioritisation and re-prioritisation of projects as well as regularly reviewing the portfolio, providing recommendations on prioritisation or re-prioritisation where necessary whilst ensuring standards are met
- Build, hire, develop and promote a team of delivery specialists and PMO staff and fostering a collaborative working style amongst engineering and project delivery staff
Requirements for the role:
- Extensive previous experience in project roles as well as experience in senior position such as a Project Director or Head of Project Management, with a proven track record overseeing the successful delivery of business and stakeholder sensitive projects.
- Experience of setting up, managing, and running key PMO systems as well as defining and embedding project management methodology and practices
- PMP Designation or another widely-recognised senior level Project Management Certification / Accreditation
- MBA / MA preferred
- Demonstrable experience in a Senior/Lead capacity, providing mentoring and coaching to a team of Project Managers and Analysts
- Advanced knowledge and experience of PMO governance roles and responsibilities
- Advanced knowledge and experience of PMO tools including project planning, dependency management, issues and risk management, resource / capacity management, financial management
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- A collaborative worker with a sense of humour!
