- Description
- An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operational Risk Manager within a Private Bank to provide oversight for the control environment and support in the development and implementation of the risk management framework. This role is offered on an office-based or hybrid working basis.
As a first LOD role you will report into the Head of Operational Control and work closely with the LOD Risk teams working to build effective relationships across the bank, delivery tasks and drive the department forward. The role will largely involve work in the areas of Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Risk Management System (RMS) and Operational Risk Policies and Framework.
Day-to-day your duties will include:
- Assessing the current RCSA culture within each department and evaluate and update where necessary
- Communicating to the bank the importance of Risk and how the first line of defence testing methodologies should operate
- Delivering training on first LOD, RMS as well as current risk issues
- Supporting the bank’s review of the Operational Risk Appetite Statements and metrics, recommending and implementing changes as appropriate.
- Reviewing and update of the Central Risk Register (CRR) in line with RCSA’s
- Ensuring consistent use of system and application of holding data relating to RCSAs, CRR and events – define standards and guides
- Assisting and guiding in review of RMS data and apply operational incident root cause analysis.
- Supporting and providing insight / oversight to the examination of incidents to the business
- Escalating and conducting oversight of serious notifiable events
- Performing root cause analyses on identified risk events or complaints, recommending improvements to prevent these risk events from reoccurring
- Producing thematic analysis on incidents
- Supporting, driving and promoting the enhancement and maintenance of the Operational Risk Framework and associated processes operated.
- Supporting the maintenance and development of the Incident Management Policy and associated processes.
- Developing and leading an appropriate control testing process and recommending and implementing improvements where necessary
Requirements for the role:
- Recent, relevant experience gained within private or retail banking in an operational risk role
- Excellent technical abilities with an analytical approach to work
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with business heads across the bank (incl. senior management committee) to identify key risks, controls and issues
- Ability to shape projects, drive them forward and deliver to deadlines
- A solid understanding of retails banking products and the respective FCA/ PRA regulations and directives
- Experience of leading a team
- Relevant professional Risk qualification
- Innovative approach with the ability to challenge the status quo
