- Description
- A great new opportunity has arisen within a City-based Private Bank for a Payments Supervisor. Working within the Banking Operations Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Payments Manager in and contributing to the successful running of the Payments Team and will have proven experience of authorising payments (CHAPS, BACS, SWIFT and Faster Payments), therefore some managerial / supervisory experience is ESSENTIAL to this role.
This role offers hybrid working with 1 day per week working in the office, plus an additional day in the office at month end.
What you will be doing day-to-day:
- Authorising, checking and verifying the day-to-day processing of payments manually and on systems
- Assisting with some system testing
- Training junior members of staff
- Prioritize the teams workflow - ensure all cut-off times are adhered to
- Contributing to the annual appraisal of team members, by feeding back to Manager
- Acting as a point of contact and escalation for the team and the wider business on payment queries and issues
- Ensure operational risks are identified and reported to the Manager
- Deputising for the Manager in their absence
- Previous supervisory experience gained within Back office / payments processing environment
- A detailed knowledge of inward and outward clearing procedures (CHAPS, BACS, SWIFT and Faster Payments) and of the legislation surrounding payments
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A confident and proactive troubleshooter, who can resolve complex queries and customer issues
- Ability to coach, mentor and motivate a team, assist with coaching, training and feedback
