- Established City-based Investment Manager is seeking to recruit a Data Officer to their Investment Research Team. The primary focus of the role is to manage the procurement and distribution of quality data as well as enhancing (where required) data management procedures and processes to include budget management, negotiation, tracking and reporting to ensure availability of timely, accurate and complete data which continually evolves to meet the needs of the business.
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing the overall provision and consumption of external research for the Investment Research Team
- Data vendor oversight and day-to-day service and stakeholder relationship management to ensure that service standards are agreed and defined for all data vendor relationships
- Working with tracking software providers to develop enhancements to the product and measure and monitor data quality across key systems and processes
- Monitoring the usage of data received to maximise value obtained and to ensure compliance with relevant contracts and licences
- Ensuring that issues are managed and resolved and that service reviews are conducted. Where service falls below agreed levels, undertake budget negotiations and ensure this is documented.
- Producing detailed reports on vendor contract service performance as well as other detailed MI reports on research and resource consumption for review by senior stakeholders. Present findings to senior stakeholders and make recommendations based on findings.
- Assisting with preparation of Research Committee meetings (prepare papers, board packs, follow up on actions etc.)
- Managing and reporting on the data budget and participate in the negotiation of licenses and management of contracts ensuring they are reflective of MoUs
- Managing process and controls around system access rights
- Maintaining RFP process, outline service demand, dissemination of RFPs to new providers and tracking of responses
- Conducting research into potential new providers and new offerings available
- Assisting with wider department projects and committees as well as provide research support cover, where necessary
Experience / Skills Required:
- Extensive experience of managing data quality in investment management or similar field
- Experience of managing 3rd party data vendors
- A solid understanding of MiFID II External Research rules
- Budgeting experience
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders, internally and externally at all levels
- Comfortable presenting at committee meetings
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong IT skills, particularly MS Excel
- IMC qualification would be highly desirable, although not essential
