The main focus of the role will be to work with front office and middle office, developing solutions to address new business initiatives, maintain BAU capabilities and advance the technology modernization program. A combination of both technical expertise and strong managerial skills is ESSENTIAL to this role. 

You will be required to:

·         Participate in the entire lifecycle of software development including requirements definition, architecture and development specifications, coding, quality assurance testing, deployment, documentation and support

·         Work as member of a development team to implement best SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) practices and procedures

·         Be Responsible for gathering requirements and determine best fit solutions collaborating with wider technology partners

·         Lead technical teams providing mentorship and direction

·         Assist the Development Manager with organizing work streams, maintaining an effect BAU presence and work towards technology modernization program

Knowledge and Experience:

·         Previous experience in the Financial services sector

·         Extensive software development experience in a commercial environment with exposure to all phases of the software development lifecycle.

·         Experience in leading technical teams, providing direction and guidance

·         Experience building and motivating high performing engineer teams

·         Hands-on engineer, ability to write high quality testable code across all tiers

·         Strong proponent of Agile practices, leading scrum teams

·         Technologies used but not limited to:

o  JavaScript (ES5/6) framework, preferably React or Angular 7

o  TypeScript

o  Redux

o  Experience with containerisation – Docker/Kubernetes (on-prem, on-cloud)

o  Experience with messaging technologies – Kafka (ideal)

o  Experience with building microservices using NodeJs (ideal), Java or .Net Core

o  Deep understanding with architecture principles and design patterns

o  In-depth understanding of Javascript, the DOM, and relevant concepts

o  Proficiency with browser based debugging and performance testing

o  Understanding of progressive web apps

o  Experience with a testing framework (Jest/Mocha)

o  Experience using Git

o  Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and development and use of design patterns (SOLID)

o  Worked in an Agile environment. Using Scrum, Kanban or similar methodology.

o  Use of development and project tools such as; Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket.
