- An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global, City-based financial services organisation for Senior Legal Counsel to support the EMEA and Asia business on all legal issues. This is a globally-focused role for an experienced financial services lawyer with experience of providing markets and trading-related advice. The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a global financial services organisation together with a strong knowledge of the relevant financial services regulations, commercial and corporate law, data privacy and corporate governance.
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be required to work closely with teams across the business on day-to-day legal matters and strategic projects as well as advising on financial regulation, commercial law, financial products, IT, employment law and litigation matters.
Duties to include:
- Provide legal advice on products and product development
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of relevant agreements, commercial contracts, terms and conditions, customer agreements, service agreements and any other contractual documentation
- Liaise with external counsel as required
- Ensure compliance with UK corporate laws, including the Bribery Act and the GDPR/Data Protection Act
- Conduct legal research and prepare briefing papers for internal teams.
- Makes recommendations for improvements to policies and processes and provide training on legal matters
- Undertake company secretarial duties
You will have:
- A minimum of 6 years PQE with experience in financial services or banking, and specifically trading and markets with a current practicing certificate in England and Wales
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks
- Extensive experience in providing consistent, clear and audience-tailored risk-based advice
- Experience of developing and improving corporate governance in financial services businesses
- Excellent commercial contracts experience
