Due to exciting business growth, our client, a leading international bank based in the heart of central London, is seeking a part / fully qualified Finance Officer to join their Finance team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and quick-learning professional to gain broad experience across the entire spectrum of financial operations within a major banking environment. You will be instrumental in maintaining the daily accuracy of the bank’s finances, preparing crucial regulatory submissions, and assisting with key projects and system improvements.
Candidates MUST have banking experience.
Duties of the Finance Officer to include:
Core Processing & Financial Control
- Transaction Processing: Accurately process a large number of supplier invoices and staff expense claims in a high-volume environment.
- Reconciliations: Perform daily banking reconciliations (including Nostro reconciliations) and assist with liquidity reporting requirements.
- Management Accounting: Prepare and process various journals necessary for both month-end and year-end close procedures.
- VAT & Tax Support: Provide hands-on assistance for key tax reporting functions, including the accurate preparation and submission of VAT documentation, Corporation Tax, and BBSI.
Project & Compliance Involvement
- System Implementation: Support key system and change initiatives across the finance department, including active participation in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new financial systems.
- Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and assist with various monthly and quarterly reports required by UK regulators and Head Office.
- Stakeholder Support: Comfortably support a wide range of internal stakeholders across the bank, leveraging excellent communication skills to resolve queries.
- Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to all applicable regulations, risk control guidelines, and internal standards.
Requirements for the successful Finance Officer include:
- Candidates MUST have several years of practical experience working within a banking organisation.
- Candidates will part-qualified or working towards the qualification (at a minimum)
- Proven basic accounting knowledge and strong numerical ability.
- Excellent analytical skills and a diligent, organised approach to work with keen attention to detail.
- Candidates must be educated to degree level or equivalent
- Strong Excel skills are essential.
- Must be a quick learner and able to pick up new tasks and concepts rapidly to effectively support the wider Finance team.
