Senior Private Banking Support
????Up to £90,000 plus FANTASTIC bonus and benefits
????Hybrid working available
A prestigious private bank in London is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Private Banking Assistant to provide expert support to a senior Private Banker covering a large and complex international book. This is a critical role designed for a seasoned professional who can take full ownership of the administration and operational management of an established, ultra-high-net-worth book of business.
As an Private Banking Assistant, you will act as the primary engine room for the desk, ensuring seamless service delivery for an entirely international client base across the Middle East, while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory integrity.
The book is close to US$1 billion in assets and is predominantly asset management rather than lending or mortgages. A large proportion of the clients are classed as high risk, including politically exposed persons (PEPs), with complex ownership structures and a high level of operational risk. Clients are sophisticated and knowledgeable, and many relationships stretch back well over a decade.
Please note, candidates should ideally have 7+ years of direct Private Banking experience (candidates with fewer years must show directly relevant experience) and MUST hold the IAD, or be willing to complete it within one year of joining
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Relationship Manager to include:
- Strategic Onboarding & KYC Leadership: Take full accountability for the end-to-end KYC lifecycle for complex structures, including enhanced due diligence on high-risk clients and PEPs. You will drive the collection, analysis, and submission of documentation, navigating intricate client profiles with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Investment Suitability: Proactively manage the production of mandatory suitability reports and investor profile reviews. Ensure the book remains fully compliant with MiFID II and internal standards at all times.
- Complex Portfolio Support: Provide high-level technical support for discretionary and non-discretionary investment portfolios.
- Expert Banking Operations: Execute sophisticated client instructions, including high-value payments, FX trading, and complex e-banking configurations.
- Non-Discretionary Execution: Confirm income and accurately book trades for non-discretionary investment accounts with precision.
- Senior Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the lead point of contact between the desk and internal departments (Operations, Compliance, and Offshore entities) to resolve bottlenecks and streamline annual reviews.
- Client Relationship Partnership: Interact directly with UHNW clients as a trusted representative of the bank, understanding the nuances of each relationship, resolving complex queries and identifying opportunities to promote relevant products and services.
- Regulatory Guardianship: Maintain an expert-level understanding of the Code of Conduct, Cross-Border regulations, AML, and FATCA/CRS requirements. Stay abreast of regulatory change and take a hands-on approach to managing risk.
Requirements for the successful Assistant Relationship Manager to include:
- Ideally 7+ years of direct Private Banking experience. Candidates with fewer years will be considered where their experience is directly relevant.
- Deep expertise in KYC/onboarding and enhanced due diligence for complex ownership structures and high-risk clients, including PEPs, with hands-on experience of AML and ALM. A robust understanding of investment products (Discretionary & Non-Discretionary) and a working knowledge of credit.
- Candidates MUST hold the IAD (Investment Advice Diploma), or be willing to complete it within one year of joining
- Experience of working with international clients. A background at an international private bank with rigorous due diligence and operational standards is preferred.
- Intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously and stay highly organised.
- A proven track record of managing a heavy workload for a senior banker with "first-time right" accuracy and minimal oversight.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and senior internal stakeholders, and the judgement to be trusted as the banker's deputy.
