Up to £70,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits
Due to exciting business growth, our client, a leading international bank based in the heart of central London, is seeking a newly / recently qualified Financial Accountant to join their Financial Control Department. This is a newly created position designed for an ambitious, recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). This role offers exceptional breadth, giving you exposure to UK, Head Office, and international reporting standards right from the start. As the Financial Accountant, you will be instrumental in supporting all financial reporting streams, providing accurate and timely data to senior stakeholders and regulators.
Duties of the Financial Accountant to include:
- Month-End Close: Support the full month-end close process, including preparing journal adjustments and coordinating the timely completion of all General Ledger (GL) account reconciliations.
- Balance Sheet Substantiation: Oversee monthly balance sheet substantiation, preparing Management Information (MI) that clearly explains key movements and trends against budget and prior periods.
- Analytical Review: Conduct detailed analytical reviews of P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, focusing on explaining key trends and variances.
- Head Office Reporting: Create accurate data extracts and note disclosures for submission to the Head Office, ensuring full reconciliation back to source systems.
- Regulatory Reporting: Assist in preparing and submitting UK regulatory reports and data disclosures to the PRA and Bank of England (BOE).
- Tax Compliance: Provide support for the preparation of quarterly and annual tax computations (Corporation Tax, VAT, and BBSI).
- Project Work: Actively contribute to process streamlining initiatives, including projects related to implementing new systems (e.g., GL upgrades, P2P expense systems, and regulatory reporting platforms).
- New Products: Help assess the accounting impact of new products and ensure robust reporting processes and controls are in place before go-live.
Requirements for the successful Financial Accounant to include:
- Must be a newly or recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 0-2 years of post-qualified experience.
- Strong financial control background with proven experience in GL account adjustments, detailed reconciliations, and management reporting.
- Good technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
- Advanced Excel and strong numerical skills are essential. Knowledge of Power BI or similar
- Quick learner, highly accurate, diligent, and a proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
